Summary: The Seal of Maou Giri the evil lord has been broken. A young boy named Nike is forced by his father to go defeat the evil lord. As a “hero” before leaving the village Nike has to go meet the witch who lives in the outskirts of town to recieve “guru guru” to fight against the evil lord. Frightened of what the “guru guru” is Nike enters the old witches house and recieved the “guru guru” which happens to be a girl, who possess the power of “guru guru” to defeat Giri. So their adventure begins to defeat the evil lord Giri.

Mahoujin Guru Guru a comical and romantic(lol) rpg/adventure anime, the character design depicts what we can call a Chibi, the fun character/monster design is one of the most interesting part of this anime series. Very lively and upbeat movement of the characters, the great source of entertainment. Each Character has their own unique characteristic, and out of all of them the most unique, helariously fun, comical character of this series has to be Kita Kita Oyaji. He is an old man from the north village and is searching for an apprentice to take over his “odoriko” position, Kita Kita Oyaji Dances his north village traditioinal dance, which is not liked by many, because it is dance by an old man wearing a hula skirt. Withought him the anime series will not be as exciting. The “magic” they use in this series is very original and brings excitemnt to the viewers, instead of just “fire” its a “fire Lizard”, they also have a growling cat that weakens any monster with high magic power, the magics are all fun and playful.

The animation itself isnt the best, but it really fits perfectly because the comical gestures and split cut scenes. The use of color is vibrant and simple basecolor make the animation look very fun and interesting to watch. For a 1997 animation the colors are very lively, and is not dead boring with low hue color.

The Opening song “Magic of Love” by TOo’s a fun and upbeat song brings the viewer to keep their eyes on the screen because of the interesting song. The intro of the song itself has many comical scenes, which really tells the viewers that this is a humorous anime series. The ending song “Wind Climbing ~ Kaze ni Asobarete” by Aki Okui a slower pased, relaxing song.

Mahoujin Guru Guru was one of the first series that i watched that really got me into watching other anime series. A great comical adventure genre which is fun for all audience. The only thing is that this anime series is not recognised as much as it should, its one of those Underrated series. So if you have the chance, please do check it out. This series also has a second season which has much better animation quality and is the continuation of this series. Also MGG has a short half an hour movie which is pretty fun to watch as well.
