Tengen Toppa Gurren lagann, a spectacular anime series that was created by GAINAX. One of the most action packed anime in quite a while. GAINAX founded by a group of diehard otaku raised on the classic giant mecha series of the late ’60s and ’70s. This studio’s love for mecha’s and super robot created Neon Genesis Evangelion the revolutionary anime series.

The Animation, like all other GAINAX series, they really specialized in the great action cuts and action animation. Like Green Leaves anime ova, they did quite alot of comic like sequences, that really brought alot of excitment and anticipation to the viewers.  The color use is very pretty, especially the first episode with the most beautiful scene of the two planets and the sky, almost like a Makoto Shinkai

This anime was very interesting in how they told the story, its was like having a sequel in one season. First 14 episodes were one arc, then the rest took place 20 years after in the future, which really added new taste to the series. Very great way to portray a continuos arc.

This series is probably the next most popular series that got alot franchise after Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

The Opening song “Sorairo Days” sung by Shoko Nakagawa, had a great intro animation to this series. the vibrant use of color, the great animation really matched with this exciting fast pased song. Alot of fans enjoyed this song alot bringing more people to watch Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. The ending theme “Underground” was an interesting ending, not so exciting, but served the ending just right, with the matching animation, kind of like an ending SHAFT would come up with.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is definetly on my top 10 list of what to watch. A really great series that would not upset you. If you like action, mecha, cute girl, and DRILLS, this is the series for you!
