Summary: Takemoto Yuuta move into a small apartment as a freshman in College, meets with Mayama Takumi and Morita Shinobu, who are his upper classmen and live in the same apartment. Although they live in a run down apartment and live in poverty, the three of them enjoy life through small pleasure that they can attain. The story then revolves around these characters life stories as poor college students and their love lives, as Hanamoto Hagumi appears to college ground as a freshman like Takemoto.

How about adding a Romance/slice of life genre to this review page, lets start with Honey and Clover. This series is about poor art college students meeting their loved ones and go through tough times to overcome their affections and trivial times.  Hanamoto Hagumi the freshman that got a scholarship for her talent in art meets Takemoto, from then Takemoto fell in love with her, becoming a one sided love. Eventually as things gets more confuzing and complicated many events happen that brings laughter, sadness, jelousy, and other affections that you would feel. Honey and Clover give you the feeling of affection toward the characters emotions and story. This series displays a great way of how romance in a college life may seem.

GENCO and other studio’s did a great job in creating Chika Uminos characters, The shojo like design with the big expressive eyes, ultra thin lines, and the characteristic hatch marks. The animation itself displays great quality and similarity to that of the manga. The artwork in the show is decidedly surreal and dreamlike. It may be rare to see anime that lookes like it was watercolored.

The Opening/Ending of the anime series, is the one special intro no other anime has, the food claymation intro.  The Opening theme “Dramatic”by YUKI, this energetic opening really has a great mix of instruments that really fits in with this emotional yet comical anime series. The ending theme “Waltz” by Suneohair, the melodramatic struming of the guitar and the light drumming gives the nostalgic feeling to the listeners. very cool and exciting, both the opening and ending has a great input into this anime series and really brings out the best for this comedy romance drama series.

Honey and Clover has a second season and a live action movie as well, if your the type that enjoyes watching relaxing and a quite exciting love/romance drama series, i would definetly suggest you check out this series fo sho.
